What makes YourPsyche.org different?

Let's face it, the internet is vast and YourPsyche.org is not the only project of its kind. Existing projects include everything from serious research sites like Project Implicit and YourMorals.org to gimmicky sites like test4iq.com. So why choose us? Simply put, we believe YourPsyche.org is the best project of its kind. Distinguishing features include:

  • Detailed and accurate feedback
  • Advanced user interface helps you find the feedback you care most about
  • Wide range of study topics -- unlike most similar projects we do not focus on a single issue
  • Advanced reaction-time based measures of implicit processes help you discover how your subconscious mind operates
  • Feedback persistence -- YourPsyche.org stores your your results so you can login and view your updated feedback anytime
We believe you will find this website more interesting and useful than many similar projects. If not, please let us know how we can improve!

Who created this website? Who is responsible for the studies and other material on this website?

YourPsyche.org was created by Ista Zahn, a graduate student at the University of Rochester. This website is a collaborative effort with other psychologists and researchers. Specific studies are the responsibility of the researchers who created them. Each study has either an information letter or a consent form detailing who is responsible for the study and who to contact with questions or concerns.

How will my data be used? Are my responses confidential? Who owns the data collected on this website?

Your data is confidential. No one but you and the website administrator (Ista Zahn) can see how you responded to studies on this website. Your data will be combined with other responses and displayed to other users as part of their feedback, but they will not be able to identify your specific responses. Data collected on this website may be:

  • Used to present comparison information to other participants.
  • Published in academic psychology journals.
  • Presented at psychology conferences.
  • Your data will not be used for any other purpose!
The rights to the data collected belong to the researcher(s) responsible for the study. Each study has either an information letter or a consent form detailing who is responsible for the study and who to contact with questions or concerns. For more information, see our Privacy policy.

What kind of feedback does YourPsyche.org offer?

We work hard to make sure that the feedback you receive is as accurate and detailed as possible. A video demonstrating the type of information provided by YourPsyche.org is available here.

Why do I need to register before I can view my results?

This website was built by psychologists, not computer programmers, and we simply couldn't figure out a good way to provide individualized feedback without a registration system. You do need to use valid email address, but that's the only information we collect. We will not use your email address for anything and we will not share it with anyone. You will not receive any email from us except (if you choose to receive them) infrequent notifications when new studies become available. You won't get any spam from us, we promise!

I'm a researcher. Can I host my studies on YourPsyche.org?

Yes, if your study is interesting, not too long (maximum of 30 minutes), and not too repetitive or boring. Please contact us directly to discuss hosting your study here.

Sometimes the results take a long time to load. Why is this?

All of the feedback generated by this website is live and up-to-the-minute. We never present canned data: all the calculations and image generation is done live every time you click a "Show results" button. This method can be slow, but it has the advantage of always showing you the latest information. Besides, patience is a virtue :-)
